Runic App Store

Policy

Store policy

What this store is, who may publish here, and what you can expect from a listing.

1. Purpose

The Runic App Store is the catalog of first-party applications built for the UnusualHost estate: Android apps, desktop apps for Windows and Linux, and web apps. It exists so that every app has one reviewed place to be found, one stated download location, and one stated signing status.

2. Publisher and company accounts

Apps are published by company accounts, not by individuals. A company account is registered in the estate's tenant registry and owns a fixed list of product slugs. At launch there is one company account, UnusualHost, which owns every app in the catalog. New company accounts are added by the estate operator; see the developer policy.

3. Eligibility

A listing requires: source in a company repository; a build produced by the repository's own build tooling with a provenance manifest (artifact digest, build time, source revision); a stated signing status; and a stated platform and version. Apps that fail any of these are listed as coming soon without a download.

4. Review

Listings are reviewed for: the artifact digest matching the published file; the declared permissions matching the app's purpose; no third-party trackers; and a working uninstall. Review outcomes are recorded with the build provenance in the repository.

5. Signing and integrity

Each download states its signing status. Release-signed builds are signed with the company's release key. Debug-signed beta builds are test builds signed with a development key; they are functional but may be replaced by a release-signed build that Android will treat as a different app. Unsigned builds are not installable on Android without re-signing. Where a digest is published, verify it before installing.

6. Updates and removal

New versions replace the listed artifact and keep the same slug. A listing is removed when the app is retired, when its provenance can no longer be verified, or when a security issue is found that cannot be fixed in place. Removed apps are marked coming soon or delisted; installed copies are not remotely removed.

7. Pricing

Every app on this store is free of charge. There are no in-store purchases and no payment details are collected.

8. Liability

Apps are provided as-is by their publisher. Beta and coming-soon listings are explicitly incomplete. The store operator is responsible for the accuracy of the listing (digest, signing status, publisher), not for the behaviour of the app on your device.
